Important Tips To Keep In Mind Before You Go On A Silk Road Tour

If you want to take a trip on the Silk Road, we suggest you plan your trip for any time between May and October. In the summer, the temperature is quite high and the winters are quite cold. However, the landscape is extremely beautiful in May. Thus, you can enjoy the landscape and not face extreme temperatures.

Things to keep in mind when preparing for the trip

Although it may not be too hot for your visit, be aware that the climate along the route varies considerably. Some areas are quite cold while others are dry. The city of Turpan, for example, could reach 40 degrees in August. In January, it could face minus 20 degrees. So, given below are the things you should pack before leaving:

Take thin and thick clothes with you

Buy comfortable shoes

Obtain personal items such as hygiene supplies and dental floss.

Use tanning oil and sunblock to fight sunburn.

Carry a first aid kit as well

But carrying too much luggage is not a good idea as it can create problems for you during your trip.

Since the Silk Road is spread throughout most of China, you can find different levels of accommodation, such as simple guesthouses and luxury hotels. Depending on your budget, you can choose the right type of accommodation.

You can check conventional Chinese food during your visit to different restaurants. Small restaurants and night markets are the best places if you want to enjoy your favorite snacks. However, be sure to check the hygiene before entering a restaurant.

It is important to keep in mind that you may encounter different nationalities during your visit. They will have their taste for food and drink.

In the northwestern part of China, many people have tea with meals or snacks. Also, people have fruit juice, beer, and cola. However, you are free to try local beverages such as milk, frozen yogurt, and kumiss.

Visit the temples

If you travel along the Silk Road, you may encounter many temples. You should keep a few things in mind to make sure you enjoy a pleasant visit to some popular temples.

If you want to talk to a monk, you can use the terms "fashion" or "shi". The same titles are used for Taoists. Similarly, "chance", "fangzhang" and "zhanglao" are used to govern Monk.

You should have good manners while meeting monks. For example, you should bow your head and put your palms together when you see a monk. It is considered sacrilege to touch, kiss, or shake hands with a monk.

As for topics of conversation, you cannot talk about eating meat, marriage, and killing. Similarly, religion and politics are not very good topics either.

While visiting a temple, do not try to reach a religious artifact. During a religious ceremony, you must remain silent.

Finally, make sure the temple you are going to visit allows both sexes.

In short, these are a few things you should keep in mind before going on a Silk Road tour.
